At Compassion Vineyard, we believe that everyone is free to give from the generosity that God has placed in their hearts. Everyone is on their own road to generous living, but we offer the opportunity to everyone to give as they feel prompted. You'll find the 'why' and 'what for' below the giving form.
Why would I give to church? What is the money used for?
Jesus demonstrated how to live generously, being motivated by God's love, with Holy Spirit leading the way. He showed how to depend on God for all things, and still be generous all the time.
At Compassion Vineyard, we know everyone is at a different stage of generous living - giving generously in all parts of our lives including our time, resources, attention, money, and more. The reason we give and how we know what to give is described in the Bible (see the button below).
Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give. And God can give you more blessings than you need, and you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 ERV
Giving money to church is known as 'offering' in the new testament, or 'tithing' in the old testament. It helps the church community to do the kingdom 'stuff'.
At Compassion Vineyard, we believe in transparency, so we are happy to show you how we use what is given. Some areas, for example, include kid's church resources, Sunday coffees, church meals, and community outreach BBQ food. Regular giving allows us together, in turn, to be generous and plan further how we do our part in continuing Jesus's mission. Giving can be cash in an envelope, but the preferred method for Compassion Vineyard is online.
Now, about the collection of money for God’s people: Do the same as I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each of you should take some of your money and put it in a special place. Save up as much as you can from what you are blessed with. Then you will not have to gather it all after I come. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 ERV
